After publishing everything exclusively through Amazon since I began writing, I’ve now decided to experiment with other markets. Due to exclusivity agreements with Amazon, some of my books are locked in with them until mid-January 2017, but others will be dropping from today.
The first book I’ll be making available on other platforms is Have Shovel – Will Bury for a number of reasons. The first and most obvious reason it’s the first one to come out of its 3 month agreement period with Amazon, so it makes sense. Secondly, it’s been a good performer since I first published it back in May, consistently putting in a solid effort each month.
So as of today, Have Shove – Will Bury is now available from:
- Nook (Barnes and Noble)
- …and a bunch of other outlets.
The universal link to all of these sites is https://books2read.com/u/mgK156 from which you can get it from your preferred outlet.
I’m using a service called Draft2Digitial to push my books out to all those sites. They’ve said they’re working on other sites, such as Google Play, so as they update to include those markets I’ll push out into those as well.
Storm View will follow in about 1 week from now, with the others by mid-January.
I’m also doing the same for my Biggy Piggy series of kids’ books. The Amazon versions were really easy to make because they’ve got a program that does it all for you. It’s taking me a little bit more time to do the ePub versions, they’re a bit of a pain in the backside.
They’re what is known as a “Fixed Layout ePub” which require a few bits of special information in the file to tell the reader how to display it. So far Draft2Digital keep stripping out this extra information and the book displays incorrectly. I’m giving it one last try today. If I can’t get it to display like it’s supposed to then I’ll just leave it exclusive with Amazon.
In FTW sequel news, I added a little over 1600 words to the draft yesterday so it’s now sitting at a little over 16,500 words. Currently working on chapter 5. It’s slow going, I’m having a harder time finding time to write as much as I want to. But I’ve been a lot more consistent recently, trying to write at least a few hundred words each day. So still no word on when I expect to finish it, but it’s getting there.
That’s all for now.
